Mike Sexton: Athlete, Dancer And, And

One fellow that combines a history of strong poker play and celebrity status thanks to television: Mike Sexton. He was born in a small town in Indiana in 1947 and is now a member of the Poker Hall of Fame. While he achieved success and some fame as a player he may is probably best known to thousands as the chief commentator for the World Poker Tour.

Sexton didn’t start out as a school-dropout poker player who made his way to Las Vegas to battle his way through to the top. Far from it! He was a gymnast attended Ohio State University. But at some time during his college years he started playing poker on a regular basis. (He reports that he also was a serious contract bridge player.)

After a stint as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, he taught ballroom dancing and also tried his hand at being a salesman.

Mike Sexton: Finally Poker

He took up poker in a serious fashion at the age of 30. He eventually moved to Las Vegas to play the game professionally and was closely associated with the late Stu Ungar in the 1980s. He is a past champion on the European Poker Tour and has also won a World Series of Poker bracelet.
Today Sexton is best known for his association with the World Poker Tour. He is listed as an author on the Harper Collins publisher Web sites.
